Stronger Veteran’s Program (Veteran Housing & Shelter Services)

Serve Those Who Served—Wherever They Are

Join Stronger Oregon’s Veterans Mental Health Services Program and deliver trauma-informed outpatient care to Veterans across Oregon—in clinics, via telehealth, and directly within community settings such as shelters, housing programs, and outreach environments.

This is not traditional office-based therapy.
This is flexible, mission-driven care that meets Veterans where they are—without barriers.

Our program mission is simple:
Honor service by providing the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

Who You’ll Serve

You will work with Veterans across the lifespan who:

  • Are navigating mental health challenges related to service or life transitions

  • Are at risk of or experiencing homelessness

  • Live with PTSD, depression, anxiety, or mood instability

  • Face substance use challenges and co-occurring conditions

  • Experience isolation, reintegration challenges, or barriers to care

Many Veterans we serve have fallen through traditional systems.
Your role is to help them reconnect—to care, to stability, and to community.

Where You’ll Work

Care is delivered across multiple settings:

  • Stronger Oregon office locations

  • Telehealth (statewide)

  • Shelters and transitional housing

  • Permanent supportive housing

  • Community partner sites

  • Street-based and outreach environments

This is real-world, mobile behavioral health care—not confined to a clinic.

What You’ll Do

Provide comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services, including:

  • Individual therapy

  • Family therapy

  • Group therapy

  • Trauma-informed care and PTSD treatment (EMDR)

  • Crisis intervention and stabilization

  • Case collaboration with Veteran service organizations

  • Care coordination with housing, medical, and community providers

  • Transition planning and long-term recovery support

Why This Role Matters

This is high-impact, purpose-driven work.

You will:

  • Help reduce homelessness and instability among Veterans

  • Support reintegration into community life

  • Treat trauma at the point of need—not after the fact

  • Prevent crisis escalation and hospitalization

  • Build long-term pathways to independence and recovery

This is not just therapy—it’s restoring stability, dignity, and direction.

A Collaborative, Systems-Based Model

You will work alongside:

  • Veteran service organizations

  • Housing and shelter providers

  • Medical and psychiatric teams

  • Case managers and outreach workers

  • Community-based organizations and CCOs

This team-based approach ensures coordinated, whole-person care.

Training & Support

We equip you for success in complex, community-based work:

  • Structured onboarding and field-based training

  • Ongoing clinical consultation and supervision

  • Support for outreach and high-acuity cases

  • Opportunities for leadership and program development

The Future of the Model (2026 Expansion)

We are building toward a fully integrated care team, including:

  • Peer Support Specialists

  • Skills Trainers

  • Prescribers (psychiatric providers)

This evolution will create a wraparound, team-based model—bringing even greater support and outcomes to clients.

Work Structure & Flexibility

  • Full-Time = 35 hours/week (benefits eligible)

  • Flexible scheduling based on placements

  • Balanced caseloads reflective of acuity

Compensation Options

Licensed clinicians (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) can choose:

Option 1: Hourly ($50) + Bonus ($60) (Stability Focused)

  • $50 an hour base rate.

  • Extra $60 bonuses per 60 minute billable service beyond 23 per week. (i.e. the 24th 60-minute billable service rendered in a week earns you an extra $60 bonus)

  • Pay period income estimations:

    • $3,860 before deductions (26 earned billable service hours a week amounting to 6 bonuses).

    • $4,220 before deductions (29 earned billable service hours a week amounting to 12 bonuses).

    • $3,500 before deductions (23 earned billable service hours a week amounting to 0 bonuses).

  • Annual income estimations:

    • $100,360 before deductions (Average of 26 earned billable service hours a week).

    • $109,720 before deductions (Average of 29 earned billable service hours a week).

Option 2: Commission Model (Higher Earnings Potential)

  • $30 an hour ($2,100 per pay period before taxes and deductions) with the potential to earn an extra commission ($0 to $6,000 per pay period).

    • If 60% of the total earned billable services calculated for a pay period (2 weeks) exceed base pay, the excess beyond the base pay amount will be earned as a commission! It is hard to give you exact calculations for commission potentials because your caseload will be filled with a variety of insurances that pay different rates for different types of services. Below are estimations and averages.

Pay-period income estimates for transparency:

Average of $5,300 before deductions (Assuming 26 earned billable service hours per week)

Average of $5,900 before deductions (Assuming 29 earned billable service hours per week)

Average of $6,500 before deductions (Assuming 32 earned billable service hours per week).
