My name is Taylor Smith (she/her) and I entered clinical social work because I believe in the power of relationship as a vehicle for growth and healing, and because I also believe it’s important to recognize the systems of power, control, and culture that impact our well being. I strive to be BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ allied and affirming. I value helping individuals find peace and joy in their identity.

Modalities I pull from include: Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Teachers who guide me in this work include Tara Brach, Pixie Lighthorse, Nedra Glover Tawwab, Gabor Mate and my own therapist/healing work. An overarching goal I have for clients I work with is for them to build tolerance for the whole spectrum of emotions and learn to experience them as neutral information, or even as wisdom that leads to informed choice.

Experiences that led me down the path of clinical social work include several years of social justice work in Oregon prisons during my undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon and seven years of advocacy and peer counseling for survivors of gender-based violence. I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) at Portland State University in 2022 and am currently a Certified Social Work Associate (CSWA) under supervision and working towards licensure. For the past year and a half I worked as a behavioral health consultant in a primary care setting addressing whole person health: mental, emotional, physical and day to day functional well being. I look forward to pulling this wider scope into practice here at Stronger Oregon.

Common labels we put on experiences that might be a good fit for my expertise include: anxiety, stress, trauma, abuse, gender affirming care, grief, attachment wounding, codependency, family members of people with addiction, boundary setting work, and life change/transitions. This is a non-exhaustive list and if my approach seems like a good fit for you, I encourage you to reach out!

Welcome, the first thing you might have noticed is the missing “E” in my name. That’s all thanks to my Eastern European roots that followed me overseas to the great Pacific Northwest. I immigrated to the US when I was only 5 years old, but one thing I brought with me and kept is my native language. Thanks to that I’m proud to be a multi-cultural counselor who can provide counseling in both English and Russian.

After graduating high school, I pursued the field of finance for my bachelor’s degree and spent four years in the corporate world. During that time, my faith drew me towards helping others, volunteering and being a support and mentor for many young adults. Two years into my corporate job I realized my true calling and pursued a master’s degree in school counseling. I completed my program and have been working as a counselor since.

Helping people looks different depending on the counselor they might work with. When it comes to my practice, the focus comes from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy standpoint. This is a short-term therapeutic approach aimed at making different choices. Each one of us has the power to make choices that will lead to different outcomes and sometimes we just need a little guidance along the way. This includes learning new skills and exploring capabilities that we might not be utilizing.

When it comes to clientele, I specialize in working with youth. This includes teens, young adults, married people, and anyone else who thinks they turn 21 during every birthday. I am happy to support my clients through anxiety, conflicts with others, self-esteem issues, pursuing career change, and much more. I am very passionate about my work and its always rewarding to see that you were a piece of the puzzle that helped someone see the bigger picture and grow.

Finding the right fit for your counseling needs is very important so if you believe I might be a good fit, please complete the application below.

Greetings!

I'm Gaby Beaujeu and my areas of therapeutic interest center on adolescents, young adults, and maternal mental health. I have worked as a clinical counselor in Child & Family services at Lincoln County Behavioral Health for the last 2 years, where I also completed my MSW internship. I believe the best investment we can make in our youth is to prioritize and care early and often for the mental health and well-being of their caregiver(s). I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I incorporate that play, mindfulness, and movement into my therapeutic approach. I have experience in CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed mindfulness practices.

I have extensive experience leading DBT groups, family therapy, and individual counseling with middle and high school clients, often at school-based health clinics to eliminate potential barriers to care and give access to services that may not otherwise be available for our youth during school hours. Representation matters, and I am committed to being a lifelong student in support of social justice and creating safe, inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals. I am also a strong advocate for adolescents navigating chronic mental health, with some of my most meaningful work being done on an early intervention team for first-break psychosis in young adults experiencing mood disorders and schizophrenia (EASA).

I have eight years of prior experience working with youth and their families including pediatric clinical research focusing on cardiac arrest and traumatic brain injuries, a brief foray into law enforcement, and assisting at a pediatric disordered eating clinic in Portland (Kartini).

I’m a Social Work Associate, working towards my LCSW licensure under the direction of my incredible clinical supervisor. I care deeply that you receive quality, evidence-based practices that are current, reputable, and relevant to your needs. I can’t wait to connect!

I have over 10 years experience working in residential and community settings providing services to youth and their families. I draw from many modalities and adjust based on my client’s needs.

I received my Masters degree in Clinical Counseling from George Fox University in 2013. This new career path came after I had been a foster parent for several years. I have much experience with youth in foster care and their caregivers. I am certified Post Adoption and FosterCare therapist with ORPARC which has given me a strong foundation when working with this population. I also really enjoy working towards reunification goals both with the biological family and the youth as they navigate emotions especially after a long periods in care.

For younger children, I believe their language is play so will often incorporate play therapy techniques in sessions. Parent participation is strongly recommended as young people often struggle with big emotions and don’t know how to express themselves. The best way for me to teach them and incorporate better coping strategies is for them to practice at home as well.

For tweens, teens and young adults I believe developing their voice and autonomy is very important. We will navigate treatment planning and therapy goals collaboratively with parental involvement as necessary. I rely strongly on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) for this age believing the positive effects in learning distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and mindfulness skills will benefit everyone. DBT is especially effective when treating youth experiencing suicidal ideations or self harm.

I will work with any diagnosis including but not limited to Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, ADHD, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I am accepting of all cultures, sexual and gender orientations. I look forward to getting to know you and help you be your best self!

I hold a humanistic perspective, meaning I believe that you are whole, deserving, and perfect at your core. I trust that your inherent intelligence and ability to connect to yourself can be revealed and encouraged through the therapeutic relationship that we will create together. I respect that you are the ultimate authority on your life and experience.

I practice holistic and integral psychology, taking the whole body, mind, and spirit into consideration, bringing a somatic, depth, and transpersonal approach to our work. My practice is integrative: weaving elements of ecopsychology, dreamwork, mindfulness, and body-centered expression. I also find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be effective too. We will pay attention to “where” and “how” feelings and experiences are held within your body, and explore the deeper meanings in your life, as well as the deeper reasons behind your challenges and difficulties. I don't subscribe to the belief that there is something wrong with you, rather "what happened to you".

For therapy to work there needs to be personal accountability. While I work from a compassionate stance in helping you figure out what works for you, my style is very honest and direct, and therefore not for everyone.

I specialize in supporting people who experience chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities, neuro-toxic mental illness, chemical/mold/EMF sensitivities, and narcissistic abuse. I personally am a survivor of Lyme Disease and Mold Illness, and am here to walk this walk with you thanks to having overcome many of my own personal life challenges that has given me the empathy and understanding to be real with you.

Congrats on taking the first step of reaching out for the help you deserve.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon with several years of experience providing therapy. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked and volunteered in a variety of healthcare and social service settings, including reproductive and sexual health clinics, HIV support services, and intimate partner violence support. I earned a Master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University in 2018, with a specialization in Integrated Behavioral Health in rural settings. Shortly after completing my graduate program, I began working as a therapist in a generalist outpatient setting, offering therapy to individuals with a broad range of clinical issues from all walks of life. I have a special focus on working with LGBTQ+ individuals (including people seeking support with accessing gender-affirming medical care) and women struggling with anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, self-worth, and body image issues.

Though I have training and experience with a number of therapeutic modalities, I primarily utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Using this framework, I help people to develop effective ways of coping with painful or difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences, harness inner strengths, develop self-understanding and self-compassion in service of building a full, rich and meaningful life. I believe therapy is about more than reducing suffering and symptoms; it is about increasing the connection to one's unique sense of meaning and purpose, moving toward what matters most. Because the foundation of all good therapy is a strong relationship between therapist and client, I place great emphasis on building trust and safety in the therapy room by being warm, open, authentic, and nonjudgmental. I may have a few fancy letters after my name, but I am also an imperfect human being whose struggles and experiences are likely not so different from your own.
