I believe that everyone can reach an optimum state of health. I employ an eclectic (or including all kinds of therapy types) approach with a strong reliance on cognitive-behavioral aspects. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, PCIT therapy, Infant/Toddler Mental Health, mindfulness techniques, and possess a certificate in Substance Abuse Treatment. I also have several years experience and training with sexual assault and domestic violence. 

For my formal education and training; after completing my bachelor degree and obtaining a Substance Abuse Certificate, I realized I was not able to assist clients with trauma or other issues. So, I went back to school to get the degree I needed to be able to help all the people who came to me. Now, I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

My career began with teenagers in residential treatment for substance abuse, after this I worked with a younger group of 5-11 year olds in residential treatment for behavior problems. From there I moved to adults with legal issues and substance abuse, while having a second job as a sexual assault counselor. I have worked with very young children, under 1 year old and their parents, as well as older adults who are in need of resolving old conflicts in their past so they can look forward to the future and all others in between.

I believe that people want to do well and be in good relationships. I also believe that there are so many things in life, physically and emotionally that can disrupt being in good relationships. As someone who identifies as bicultural, I can empathize with the many barriers associated with finding a provider who can understand various cultural differences that take place in our world. I want to help you reach your goals in a way that works best for you and your learning style. My theoretical framework is person centered and trauma informed, to provide you with the most personalized experience. Hello! My name is Danielle (she/her) and it's great to have you here! I hold a Master's degree in Social Work and am a licensed clinical social worker with a specialization in helping individuals facing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and grief. In the past, I worked as a Behavioral Health Clinician in an outpatient Primary Care office, providing short-term therapy to people of all ages, from teenagers to older adults.

Yasharet Lopez Valencia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes in the philosophy of resiliency and determination. She is a fierce advocate for the BIPOC community. Hello, my name is Lindsey Burke. I am a passionate clinician who is honored to walk alongside people in their healing journey. Life is challenging and messy, and you don’t need to do it alone.

I have my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University and I am currently an MFT and LPC. I specialize working with teens and young adults, primarily working on issues with foster care/adoption, attachment issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and identity issues. That said, I love all humans and am willing to work with anyone who is willing to do the hard work, because that’s what therapy is.

I’m an Oregon native who enjoys getting outside and moving. The water is where I find my peace, whether it be watching the waves crash on the shore at the Oregon Coast or paddleboarding.

I believe that people have a choice about their behavior, but they are also a product of their environment and experience, influenced by culture and relationships. I work with my clients to raise awareness of their motivations and goals, and to gain control of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The client is the expert on their own experience, and the counselor is the expert on change who helps the client recognize their strengths for overcoming barriers. I build a therapeutic relationship with clients based on empathy, curiosity, and respect. I celebrate diversity and I advocate for people from all populations, especially those from marginalized and oppressed groups.

Prior to becoming a counselor, I was an advocate for victims of crime, specializing in domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. I have specialized training in the dynamics of abusive relationships and trauma-informed care. I am also passionate about supporting first responders, veterans, caregivers, and people who frequently witness or hear about trauma in their professional or personal lives.

Additionally, I have been an elementary school counselor, so I like working with children and families on social emotional development. My theoretical approach to counseling is based on cognitive behavioral therapy with influences from narrative therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness. One of my favorite quotes by Maya Angelou summarizes my feelings about counseling:

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
