I hold a humanistic perspective, meaning I believe that you are whole, deserving, and perfect at your core. I trust that your inherent intelligence and ability to connect to yourself can be revealed and encouraged through the therapeutic relationship that we will create together. I respect that you are the ultimate authority on your life and experience.

I practice holistic and integral psychology, taking the whole body, mind, and spirit into consideration, bringing a somatic, depth, and transpersonal approach to our work. My practice is integrative: weaving elements of ecopsychology, dreamwork, mindfulness, and body-centered expression. I also find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be effective too. We will pay attention to “where” and “how” feelings and experiences are held within your body, and explore the deeper meanings in your life, as well as the deeper reasons behind your challenges and difficulties. I don't subscribe to the belief that there is something wrong with you, rather "what happened to you".

For therapy to work there needs to be personal accountability. While I work from a compassionate stance in helping you figure out what works for you, my style is very honest and direct, and therefore not for everyone.

I specialize in supporting people who experience chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities, neuro-toxic mental illness, chemical/mold/EMF sensitivities, and narcissistic abuse. I personally am a survivor of Lyme Disease and Mold Illness, and am here to walk this walk with you thanks to having overcome many of my own personal life challenges that has given me the empathy and understanding to be real with you.

Congrats on taking the first step of reaching out for the help you deserve.

You have found yourself in a strange new world, but feel you don't belong. Afraid to reveal your true self and what you believe. What fears do you need to face? What stands between you and your happiness? Is life possible after trauma? When you learn to wield your mind skillfully like a sword, there is no foe too great and no challenge too steep.

Specialties: I have a passion for helping the LGBTQ+ community with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addictive thoughts and behaviors. I strongly believe in practicing and teaching meditation skills for formal and informal practice, building self-confidence and awareness through Non-Dual and integral philosophy, and self-empowerment through support in navigating life's many challenges.

Modalities: I have primarily found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Person Centered Therapy to be the pillars of my therapeutic style. Additionally I have completed basic training for EMDR which I have found to be using in addressing post-traumatic symptoms and self-defeating thoughts and beliefs that hold us back.

Education: I have earned my Bachelor's degree from Portland State University majoring in psychology and earned my Master's degree in Applied Psychological Sciences with a clinical focus from Pacific University.

Experience: I have extensive experience with teens and young adults. I worked at Albertina Kerr, an in-patient setting, for children and teens who were experiencing severe emotional, mental, and existential distress. I was an intern counselor in an outpatient setting at William Temple House where I primarily helped young adults. I was employed by Marion County Children's Behavioral Health as both a crisis mental health specialist and therapist for children and teens for crisis intake and ongoing outpatient therapy.

There seems to be a rhythm to life. An outflow and an inflow, an up and a down. There is also a clockwise spin to the future or counterclockwise spin to the past projections in our minds. The more to the outer edges there is chaos and life experienced when attached or avoiding. But the more toward the center and into our self we go, the more we reach a point of order, stillness, and life when unattached and accepting of what may come.

I’ve been in the profession since 2007 and have almost 10 years of Post-Graduate Clinical Counseling experience. Jumping on “the wave of the future,” I have been providing Telehealth Counseling services for over a year now.  I have practical experience serving both self-referred clients as well as those involved in the Criminal Justice System.  I have successfully helped persons with varying clinical issues including; Anxiety, Depression, Relationship problems, Men’s issues, Faith-based struggles and most Mental Health disorders. I specialize in PTSD, Domestic Violence Interventions and Addictions Counseling. I am a Trauma Informed Counselor who is also registered with "Star Behavioral Health Providers" trained and experienced working with Military Veterans. I love what I do and do what I love!

I approach counseling from a combined Existential and Narrative therapies theoretical perspective. Existential and Narrative therapies are holistic approaches that explore persons’ stories and experiences in relation to the physical, social, personal, and spiritual dimensions of struggles from the client’s perspective. These theories strive to understand what it means to be human. The therapeutic relationship is one in which the therapist and client co- journey together examining the client’s difficulties that may possibly have origins in four universal questions; Who am I?, Where am I going and why?, Why am I here?, and What gives my life purpose and meaning? Exploring these questions in relation to your present circumstances may stimulate growth and promote healing and help you write a new and preferred story for your life.

I am educated and trained in many evidenced-based practices and borrow techniques from other theoretical disciplines to meet your individual needs when appropriate.  I’ll work to help you develop a stronger sense of self-awareness and self-determination. As we journey together towards your realization of freedom and responsibility, you choose a new course that may lead to a better sense of well-being. My desire is to help you find hope and realize a purposeful and meaningful life.

I am an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Oregon Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor 1 (CADCI). I am held accountable to the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) and The Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). To maintain my LPC and CADCI I am required to participate in continuing education relevant to these professions. I earned my Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling at George Fox University (GFU) after previously earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences at Linfield College. In compliance with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) and the Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 833-025-0005, I have completed the educational requirements for Professional Counseling at GFU. I have also completed education for CADCI core competencies at GFU and Daystar Education, Inc.

I’d be honored to serve you and am excited to meet you!

When we bring consciousness to unconscious patterns of thoughts and behaviors and heal areas that have been wounded, we regain the option of choice where there previously wasn't.

I draw on training in client centered approaches to mental health counseling such as Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt therapy, and Humanistic Psychotherapy. I have also studied behavior based approaches to therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In each session I work to assess the needs of the individual and tailor the treatment provided with the necessary balance of structure and exploration. I specialize in taking a trauma informed approach, focusing on the client feeling safe enough to explore difficult areas that have been challenging with curiosity and openness. In this exploration unconscious areas become more consciousness and one has an increased sense of agency and choice.

My formal education includes an M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA and completion of the 3 year Somatic Experiencing Training. I also have work experience in the fields of child and youth therapy and substance use disorder treatment.

I have lived Internationally which allows for heightened cultural sensitivity, and am able to work with clients in both English and Spanish.

Our Work Together

For adults:

I have been described as calm, grounded, attentive, and caring. I believe healing cannot be forced and we go at your own pace. At the same time, we will remain attentive to what in your life is wanting to change, and I will help you find courageous action to make it happen. Joy reveals what nourishes our true self. Grief shows us what we have loved, and what we want to preserve. Fear reveals the edge of what we know, and where we might grow.

My “theoretical approach” draws upon the principles of attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology to create an environment of safety and trust. Here you can come into deeper knowing of your own feelings, and discover what you truly value and want from life and relationships. From this place of knowing, the courage to make change, the ability to accept what we cannot, “and the wisdom to know the difference” can all be found.

Rather than looking for canned answers or interventions, I give attention to what is happening between us in the moment. As trust is built between us, old relationship patterns, limited ways of thinking, and unfelt feelings appear for exploration and healing. You will be held in acceptance while also challenged to follow where the seed of life is wanting to grow within you.

My degree is in Clinical Social Work, and my employment background is in crisis work. In times of emotional confusion or intense pain, I use mindfulness-based skills and expressive art practices (drawing, poetry, song) to help you find safety and expression for overwhelming emotions, thoughts, or images so that they can be felt and understood. Panic and anxiety can be soothed, grief can be expressed, and depression transformed into creativity.

I am deeply influenced by Jungian ideas and my own experiences as a psychotherapy client are rooted in this framework. You are welcome to bring your night dreams, visionary imagination, and creative work into our conversations. I also incorporate ecotherapy and look to Nature as a third partner in our work, as I believe that the Earth is our first source for healing, and our deepest teacher on relationships and wholeness.

Gender, race, sexuality, disability, body type, cultural background, and other forms of lived identity are important parts of who we are. In our sessions you will be empowered to witness and draw strength from all parts of yourself, seen and unseen.

For some, “feeling better” can happen in a matter of moments. For others, the healing journey becomes the privilege of a lifetime. You can expect from our time together that you will be given usable practices to find relief from emotional distress, while also receiving support to carry forward the healing into and with your own life. What we do will reflect what you want and need at this time. I look forward to meeting you!

For kids:

I enjoy being a children’s therapist because I love spending time with kids! For fun, I enjoy music, singing, learning about plants and animals (like my friend Jennifer, the chicken in the photo), writing, and being outside with my family. I have a French bulldog named Lily who loves to go for walks around Salem. My family loves card games, especially Magic the Gathering and Pokémon. As a mom, I know the joys and challenges of being a parent, and as a former child, the confusion and excitement of growing up.

As your therapist, we will spend time together playing, drawing, singing, reading books, or talking. If you have been hurt, I will be a safe adult to talk to, who can help you make sense of what happened. If following directions is confusing or difficult, or if you have feelings that are sometimes “too big” to control, we can talk together about how to make sense of them and how to ask for help. If friendships are difficult, we can practice how to make friends and be a friend. If you have a game you want to play, I will be excited to play it with you! I am with you however you want to be that day. Our time together is just for you.

Having 30+ years experience as a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin, Wyoming and Oregon, I have supported adults and children struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life stressors, mood instability, relationship challenges, addiction, OCD, and codependency issues understand there struggles, provide positive coping skills, teach personal resources, healthy boundaries, assertive skills, healthy communication and much more. I also support individuals on remembering and honoring their authentic self.

I have a strong sense of spirituality and helping individuals connect with their Higher Selves and learning to allow there Higher Selves to run their lives instead of being lead around by emotions, thoughts and conditioned behavior. I support clients with their healing journeys with evidenced based treatments to include person centered, CBT, REBT, Transpersonal, Mindfulness, Heart Math and Solution Focused Counseling. IFS Internal Family Systems therapy and Trauma Informed Therapy as well. My approach is holistic and emphasizes natural healing. However, I know that western medicines can have profound healing for many individuals.

It's important that we take responsibility for our health and be committed to participating in our healing process and be open to all resources and use our own individual intuition to know what is best for us.

I have recently completed a 10 month psychedelics therapy program through Integrative Psychiatry Institute. This program is aligned with MAPS and other institutions leading in the field of psychedelic therapy. I am currently providing harm reduction and integration therapy for individuals using alternative medicines for healing.

Just because you can do it on your own doesn't mean you have to!!

My name is Autumn Stoutenburgh and I am fully licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

I have a friendly, relaxed, and intuitive but intentional approach that I bring into our space that we will create together through telehealth. Relationship is important in the therapeutic process and I put great care into establishing a safe and secure foundation for us to work from. For my younger clients, there is significant attention to the relationship between them and their primary caregiver(s), as that will be the most important relationship to strengthen in our time together.

I draw from various modalities and tend to utilize parts of each of them during sessions, with a more intuitive and relaxed approach, while still being purposeful. These modalities include: Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Play Therapy, Theraplay, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as attachment and trauma informed treatment.

I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. While at the U of O, I discovered the way I wanted to direct my passion to support children and their families in order to provide them with a better trajectory in life - by being a therapist. In order to get the best education in this field, my young family and I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I earned my Master’s in Social Work through the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work. I also attended a Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica, from which I became a Certified Yoga Instructor. We have returned home to Oregon to grow our roots.

I work primarily with children and adolescents under the age of 13, their parents, and families. I have great interest in working with Early Childhood and Infant Mental Health, both of which strongly focus on the relationship between child and caregiver. I am also accepting women in transitional periods of their lives, those experiencing infertility, and parents in the perinatal period.

I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work in 2016 and have 2.5+ years of experience in mental health counseling, social work, case management, behavioral health consulting in a health care setting, forensic interviewing, childhood trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, and early childhood parenting.

Therapy is a process in which growth can and will look different for everyone. I will meet you wherever you are in that process and we will start there. You are not alone. You are of value. You are important. You are worthy.

I guide clients experiencing symptoms of childhood trauma toward healthier relationships with their emotions and feelings. I emphasize a structured approach that guides clients toward development of grounding skills, emotional tolerance, and awareness. We will also address the body's important role in your mental & emotional health.

My primary therapeutic orientation is integrative and will include skills & interventions from psychodynamic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based, and narrative therapy.

It can be difficult to understand our emotions & feelings, let alone sit with them. I can guide you with both, providing unconditional positive regard and strong boundaries. Though the work is rarely linear, we will always go at the pace you're comfortable with.
